Fall Lake Pictures

The end of fall means no more shorts, tank tops and flip-flops. For this girl (yes, I still like being called a girl.  The older I get, the more pleased I am when I’m referred to as a girl and not as ma’am), that means it’s time to run away to warmer climate, despite the beautiful fall lake pictures.

I wish.

Since it doesn’t look like we’re going anywhere yet, I am enjoying our lake this fall.  It’s been a pretty mild one so I haven’t put my flip-flops away yet.  I will keep wearing them until my toes freeze off.

But so far, no freezing toes.

Even though I hate it when it starts to get dark by 4:30 p.m., the light in fall does make for some very pretty fall lake pictures at sunset.

This is our beautiful lake, reflecting the sky when the sun first sets.

I managed to sneak up on a bird and took a picture of it silhouetted against the lake.  And when I say sneak, I really meant it.  I tip-toed really slowly closer and closer…

…and then another bird came over and joined him.  I wonder what they were talking about.

I hate it when the leaves fall and the branches become bare, because it means winter is coming.  But the bare branches do look stunning against the lake and sky at dusk.  This is one of my favorite fall lake pictures.

I managed to get this Great Egret in flight from our canoe.

And found this deer staring at me with no fear.

And saw this hot dog in a beam of sunlight…

Oh, wait.  That’s not a wild animal.  That’s our Lokie.

While I wait impatiently for spring to come (I know I’m in for a long wait since it’s not even winter yet), I’ll keep myself occupied with the new camera we just got.  All the pictures I’ve posted so far were taken with my iPhone.

I think I need more practice.  That’s my thumb in the picture.
